Usually the implant is placed through an incision at the bottom of the breast and under the muscle of the chest and all too often, too large a size. This can potentially result in injury to the breast and skin anatomy, with excess thinning, rippling, “bottoming out” potentially, looking obvious and/or feeling unnatural.

This technique is based upon the philosophy that there indeed a “sweet spot” when it comes to finding the perfect size. That is, on the one hand you don’t want to go through a surgery and not see enough of a difference and on the other hand, be left with a breast disproportionately large and more importantly potentially damaging to the surrounding breast tissues and skin. That’s where my principle of the 3 bears of aesthetic surgery comes in: at the time of surgery, sizer implants are placed and removed in turn until the breasts are visualized to be both over and under-augmented, thus finding the “sweet spot” of implant size and ensuring the safest and most aesthetic of outcomes.
